While You Were Out
Over the weekend:
-- Florida Grand Opera has canceled its concert series after only one season. Darned economy.
-- The Royal Opera House and the BBC plot for world domination.
-- The Royal Opera House and Placido Domingo plot for world domination.
-- And finally, tenor Stephen Costello is the 2009 Winner of the Richard Tucker Award, a $30,000 prize that recognizes an American singer considered to be on the threshold of a significant, international opera career. We congratulate Mr. Costello. He makes his Company debut next season as Romeo in Romeo and Juliet and returns the following year in Faust.
